I was recently successful in procuring $100,000 for road decommissioning work in the Trail Creek Watershed. Just about the entire watershed is comprised of fragile soils and there's a really high existing road density. Most of these roads are no longer used or needed. So I'm going to pull some of them out to better facilitate watershed processes. The first step is of course checking these roads out to make sure there won't be any extenuating circumstances when it comes time to implement the contract. Here's a scenic shot from some of that recent reconnaissance work. There was about four inches of fresh snow up on the ridgeline.

Good for you! Sounds like a very worthwhile and interesting project...one that when finished you can be proud of and will enjoy seeing it bounce back.
