Grave Creek Macroinvertebrates

This was a fun day in the woods.  You see, I've got an intern who is always looking for work and different experiences.  I also had to write a news article for the Rogue River Watershed Council regarding Grave Creek.  So I put the two things together and spent a couple days with Dominic out in Grave Creek looking at stream temperature warming/cooling trends and the resulting macroinvertebrate communities.  Basically warmer water results in more algae which results in a greater macroinvertebrate species diversity and density.  Interestingly, juvenile salmonids prefer cooler water over the abundance of food that lower Grave Creek provides.
