The last time we went, it was February 2020 and we remember hearing about this new virus breaking out across Asia. Then the Festival was cancelled for two years, but this year, 2023, it came back! We bought tickets the morning after Thanksgiving and then eagerly awaited February to arrive. We went in and split costs on an Air BnB in Longbeach, WA. Don and Mary drove down from Seattle and I drove up with Evan and Heidi. Dohnele had to work the first night at a wine release party until after midnight. Needless to say, she drove up the next morning. Dohnele picked us up, drove us to Astoria and Fort George Brewing where we all proceeded to drink the most delicious stout beers! Oh, and they had bacon on a stick! And pizza. And live music. And ice carving. And metal work. And it was almost entirely not rainy! We picked up pizza for dinner and then just hung out eating and drinking. The next day, Don and Mary headed north again and the rest of us headed south - but not before taking a quick drive on the beach, picking up some baked goods, and then having lunch at Fort George where we picked up some bottled stouts to take home. After that it started pouring down rain and Evan and Heidi headed home through Jewel while Dohnele and I drove home on Hwy 30 through Portland.
