A Second Trip to Seattle

When we went to Seattle a bit ago to get Dohnele and Emma fitted for their wedding attire, we really didn't get any time to visit with folks or have the relatives all to ourselves.  Soooo, because the drive was such an easy one, we just decided to do it again and this time do nothing but visit and have a good time.  And there was a federal holiday to boot, so I didn't even have to take time off from work and Emma didn't have to take any time off from school.  Like last time, we left right after Emma got out of school on Friday.

The drive up was painless enough.  We checked into The Maxwell Hotel late that evening.  On Saturday we went to breakfast at El Diablo Coffee.  Small and cramped, but friendly and tasty.  Dohnele and Emma went shopping at the Paper Source immediately afterwards for Valentine's Day cards.  After that, we headed to Kavu to go shopping for Dohnele's handbag which she'd been oogling for weeks online.  She found the one she liked and we bought it before popping over to Grandma and Grandpa's apartment.  We spent a good four hours visiting with them before meeting up with Don, Mary, James, and Nathan at Patxi's Pizza.  Now that place was awesome!  Delicious, spacious, amazing cocktails.  Good times!

Sunday morning we tried to get to Coastal Kitchen on Capital Hill, but couldn't find anywhere to park.  Soooo, we just picked up some lunch at Fred Meyer's before popping over to the Matney's apartment to watch the Packers v. Seahawks game which we watched all afternoon.  Seriously, one of the best games I ever watched!

Finally, on Monday, we drove over to Pike's Market which was a real disappointment.  Lots of people and not a lot of stuff on display.  Breakfast at The Crumpet Shop which was typical: really tasty, but really busy and we ended up eating outside.  We walked across the street to the Seattle Aquarium which was really awesome, but really expensive and totally packed.  Seriously, you could only stand at a display for a minute before getting pushed along by the crowd to the next display.  Really neat, but tough to enjoy.

We left Seattle and stopped at IKEA in Portland where we picked up a bunch of stuff we had ID'd online before leaving on the trip.

So anyway, there you have it.  Great trip.  Very busy.  Really nice people-visiting.  Good food.  Seahawks won the playoffs!
