Birding in the Mountains

Dad had to see for himself that birds had in fact not yet arrived in the mountain lakes.  So we drove up Hwy 66 to Little Hyatt Reservoir and didn't see anything.  Hyatt Reservoir was the same.  We dropped down to the west side of Klamath Lake and only found a few raptors.  Since we hadn't found any birds, we drove back by way of Crater Lake National Park.  We didn't go up to Rim, but did stop at a turn-out and found a few Clark's nuthatches at a distance, so dad was pleased with that.  Finished our giant loop by getting milkshakes at Phil's Frosty in Shady Cove.

It was a wonderful trip..in spite of lack of birds but the Clark's Nuthatch was worth it..plus the refreshment at Phil's!
