We thought it would be good to pop over to the Coast to see if we could find dad some shorebirds that might be unique, because it really was just too early to be seeing a lot of birds up in the mountains. So we drove over via US 199 with a quick stop in Cave Junction for Taylor's Sausage. It's a long drive, but it's beautiful (as long as you don't get carsick). And the best part was that, as I predicted, with an offshore flow, the wind would be nonexistant and the temperature would be high. It was over 70 degrees on the beach and there was barely a breath of wind. Veeeery nice.
My intent was to do some beachcombing and although we did, the spot I wanted to visit turned out to be just too close to access and therefore people. We didn't find anything. Although Emma found a bunch of shells, beach glass, and some fun rocks.
Next to no birds on the move over there, although dad got a few shots of oystercatchers and also some seals. Mom got to take some neat pictures of some succulent beach flowers.
It was warm enough that Emma and mom went wading for an hour or so. It was so warm that we had to treat ourselves to icecream bars on the way home.
