Got to visit the Lookout Below Timber Sale that I had visited nearly a year ago. Back then it was fresh and winter hadn't hit it yet. But the past year was especially bad for this area. The summer was hot and dry, winter was full of blowdown, flooding, and debris flows, and this spring has been hot and dry especially early in the year. As a result, the haul route failed in at least one location and many new seedlings died. Not the prettiest bit of land management to look at, but at least from a soils perspective - not that bad as there wasn't much detrimental soil disturbance (compaction).

Definately not pretty...I'm surprised the soil stood up to all that it was exposed to.
