Storm Surge at the Beach

Emma and Isabelle really wanted to go to the beach when Isabelle was in town so I piled all the kids into the car and we headed over.  It was an absolutely spectacular day, as it turned out.  The weather was clear, the breeze was light, we found a perfect parking spot, and although the tide was high, the incoming surge was awesome.  There must have been a storm out in the ocean because the waves were big and when they slid up the beach, they sometimes were enough to crest the beach-head where they then sheeted across and down the beach, swamping anyone standing there.  I've never seen that before and it was really neat!

We all hiked the route we normally do and the kids had a blast.  Everyone got soaked - even myself - because the waves were that strong and unpredictable.

Spectacular pictures!!!
Such a wonderful fun time for the kids.
The Ocean wickedly gorgeous...but that "sheeting"...rather dramatic and the light thru the waves so beautiful!
