In scheduling, I had to thread the needle of going late enough to not run into snow and early enough to not run into tons of people. Going when we did, I was able to skip reserving a camp site since the campground host wasn't established yet.
As time drew near, it looked like we wouldn't be able to escape a bit of rain, but we still opted to go. The drive up was uneventful. We met in Randle, WA got a few snacks and headed up the mountain. Once at the campground, we found and secured a perfect campsite right on the edge of Walupt Lake. There were a few mosquitoes, but we got camp set up just fine and then went fishing. Didn't catch anything, but Zephyr had a good time casting.
After fishing, we headed back to camp to have dinner and to make sure our camping gear was all secured for the rain that was supposed to start tomorrow morning.
