A Week with Matt

Matt came for a visit for a week which several years overdue, but still great.  On two of the days, I actually took him to work (auditing thermographs in the Deer Creek watershed and assessing canopy cover on the North Fork of Galice Creek).  Matt kept asking about poison oak, ticks, spiders, snakes, etc., and I kept reassuring him that there was hardly any of that (except for poison oak).  But in one day we managed to just about step on a rattlesnake and sit on a scorpion!

One day we hiked from Grave Creek, down the Rogue River, to the Whisky Creek Cabin.  It was pretty dang hot and we even ran out of water on the return trip.  But we managed to get in a great swim down at Whisky Creek.  We even picked a few apples of an old tree that was likely planted by old homesteader / gold miner types.
