One thing that folks don't tell you when you're a kid is how precious time is. I remember wondering, as a kid, why my parents didn't spend more time with their friends. They had friends, they knew people, but pretty rarely interacted with them unless they ran into them at the grocery store or post office. I've since figured out why. Time is precious. Kids come first, family comes second, the home comes third, and then there's work. Yikes. Friends, as important as they are, on a good day, play fifth fiddle! Case in point is this wine tasting event that we did with Mariska and Kelly. We all acknowledged that we're all super busy and have a lot of other pots in the fire so we set a date a year in advance to go wine tasting! It seemed silly at the time, but it was necessary.
Anyway, I whipped up an itinerary and we met them in McMinnville at Flag and Wire Coffee. After catching up, we drove over to Argyle Winery where we sampled sparkling wine. After that, we had a picnic lunch at a park in Yamhill before going to Cristom Vineyards. The two wineries are night and day different, but both good in their own ways.
After our second round of wine, we drove the rest of the way to home where we had pizza for dinner. It was a pretty great day being able to put work and the home aside for a few hours of enjoyment.
