Our Seed Orchard far to the south was starting to bloom, as it does every year, which means conditions are just right for an application of insecticide. My role to ensure that water resources are not degraded, so I have to install a lot of monitoring equipment in the streams prior to spraying. And then after insecticide is applied, I collect the monitoring equipment and check to make sure that no product made its way into the stream network.
Installing the water quality monitoring equipment
Overseeing the spray operation from a distance. Look closely and you can see the helicopter!
Assessing whether or not this swale needs any protection (it doesn't since it's dry!)
