Upper Willamette Campfire Session

This spring, Cory and I brought back the Campfire Sessions where instead of indoor program meetings that are boring and nobody wants to attend, we go to each Field Office, meet with our staff, see something compelling, and then relax around a campfire to relay updates.  And this year, we decided to integrate with the botany program!

There are five Field Offices and this year, the first visit was to the Upper Willamette Field Office.  Staff took us out to show us the proposed Gate Creek stream restoration project.  The whole area was part of the Holiday Farm Fire which resulted in all the trees getting burned (sad), but becoming available for utilization in stream restoration (yay!)  And most of the trees that burned up are giant old growth.  The stream will need this large wood because it's kind of narrow and definitely incised with significant incision and floodplain disconnect.
