Falls Church, VA to Maryville, TN

Virginia State Flag and Georgia, the shihtzu

We were slow to leave this morning as we tied up a few last minute loose ends, but did get underway before noon.  Our first stop of the day was Natural Bridge State Park, a stop I had picked because it was pretty amazing looking.  A short hike confirmed that it was indeed impressive.

After that, we took a detour off the main interstate to drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway.  I had hoped to catch fall colors, and I did, but definitely not at their peak.  The rolling hills, sweeping views, tiny hamlet communities were all lovely, but only enough so to take a quick picture and keep rolling toward Maryville, TN where Ron had arranged for us to stay the night with friends of his.

The sun set and after dark rolled over us, it started to rain a bit, but not bad.  We got to Maryville, but since it was late, we didn't stay up with our hosts long.  We pretty much brushed our teeth and went to bed on account of leaving so late.
