Exceptional Day in the Nestucca

Had a really great day out on a couple of the Nestucca River's tributaries.  First we met up with with our Aquatics staff from the Tillamook Field Office and then we assessed a wetland at a culvert site on Testament Creek that's going to be upgraded to a bridge.

After some lengthy discussion about permitting, we drove to Bear Creek to look at past restoration efforts and what work would be needed to keep the quality of the stream high since many of the restoration structures are old.  Bear Creek may just be one of my new most favorite streams on the district!  It has a high degree of sinuosity and a perfect distribution of spawning gravel sizes for Coho Salmon although it is still a bit incised and could use more floodplain connectivity and off-channel rearing habitat.  Anyway, the temperature was great, the conversation was great...  Everything was just so green and fresh and beautiful!
