Biochar and a Scholarship

Now that the biochar was made, we finally got a week on the calendar where we got the char spread on the landscape in our monitoring plots.  Now to sit back and wait 20 years to see how vegetation and seedlings re-grow!  Even though the landscape is entirely burnt and really devastating, it's nice to see the vegetation already resprouting; and the views are pretty phenomenal.

In other news, Emma got her first scholarhsip!  The $1,000 Viking Scholar scholarship.  Portland State University held a banquet dinner for all the scholars that she and I went to which was fun.  We feasted on tacos and chocolate churros.

And finally, here's a picture of the blanket that Emma crocheted all spring long to get half an art credit to wrap up her high school credits!  Oh!  And a bouquet that some friends brought for Dohnele when we had them over to dinner since it's iris season!
