Arranged a soils field trip for my new soil scientist and the NRCS. We met in Willamina and drove up to some soils that had been mapped as wetlands, but actually weren't. Then we drove to a timber sale that had just wrapped up a few months prior and we looked at a couple roads that had been decommissioned. The decommissioning looked good, but the reclaimed soils hadn't been mulched or replanted which was problematic. I also went on a field tour to the Five Rivers area in the Coast Range on another day with the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board.
On the home front, we acquired a really nice picnic table, but it had been sitting outside for several years and was moldy and needed all the bolts tightened. So I sanded the whole thing down, primed it, and then painted it the same color as the front door (Dohnele's idea). It looks really nice now. We'll likely bring it inside in the winter time.
Zoe meanwhile has been drawing and painting and we've been super impressed!
