Every spring I visit a long-term water quality monitoring site for the U.S. Forest Service. The timing is tricky because it has to be early enough that I don't get into really warm stream temperatures, but it can't be too early because the water is every bit as deep as my chest waders! This year I timed it perfectly. The weather was warm, but not too warm and the depth wasn't a problem for reaching the site. When I was downloading the equipment I let just a bit of water over the top of my waders, because of the reach I have to make to reach the equipment where it is epoxied to a bedrock shelf.
