Salem Ice Storm

This year's ice storm was even worse than the one that a year ago last Christmas.  Ironically, Ben came to visit us during both ice storms, driving here from Spokane both times.  Fortunately, the weather was well forecasted and we knew about it well in advance.  I got all the shopping done just as the drizzle and freezing temperatures hit.  It drizzled for a couple days all while being below freezing.  Then it cleared, but actually got even colder (single digits!)  So the ice just kind of stuck around.  Power went out "everywhere" between Portland and Eugene - sometimes for days - but we were spared because our power lines are all under ground.

Anyway, Ben was in the process of moving from Spokane to Florida for a new Air Force deployment and stopped by for a couple days which was nice.  In other news, Zoe found a giant squish mellow at Costco which she had to have and also had a sleepover with her friend, Amelia.  I got a picture of Zephyr one afternoon at school pickup showing that he never wears his coat, no matter how cold it is.  Oh, and I got a haircut!
