At the unofficial end of summer, Dohnele and I headed down to Ruch to see Dohn and to pick up Emma so that she could get home and have one last weekend before heading to college.  On the drive down, just south of Canyonville, we passed a wildfire which was necking traffic down to one lane so that fire fighters could engage the fire on the shoulder of the freeway.  And on the drive home, we saw another wildfire, just south of Eugene, although this one was much smaller.  I also found some time to install a new stem and handlebars on my bike because they looked super neat and should see me sitting upright a bit more instead of hunched over.

As is typical with the end of summer, harvesting fruit and vegetables is in full swing and we took advantage of that - not only in our own gardens, but also at the local Saturday Market and at a local hop farm which sells only beer that has used hops grown onsite.  Incidentally, fresh-harvested hops smell amazing!

And in other news, after several years of development, I finally got the first half of my temporary bridge contract fulfilled with the delivery of bridge sills from a fabrication facility in Spokane (the bridge will be delivered later and will be coming from Colorado.)
