Airshow and a Bikeride

Gorgeous weekend, gorgeous Sunday, busy Sunday.  Set the alarms to go to a small airshow over in Independence where there was going to be a Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) competition.  We hadn't planned on getting breakfast there, but the smell of pancakes, eggs, and bacon won us over.  Then we looked at some planes displayed on the tarmac and ultimately set up our lawn chairs to watch the competition.  It was really fun to watch and amazing to see how little distance these expert pilots needed to takeoff and land.

Smith Creek (above) where it flows into Dorena Reservoir

After we watched for a while and were starting to sweat on the tarmac, we headed home and loaded up the bikes to head south to Dorena Reservoir and the Row River Trail.  We biked further than we had before, southeast beyond the reservoir and up the valley a ways.  We stopped to pet horses that the twins found.

In other news, still harvesting peppers from the garden and I took the twins to Woodburn to shop for back-to-school clothes.
