This morning started early with breakfast with my former boss from when I worked in Medford. After we both got caught up on gossip, we hit the road. Took one wrong turn in Sacramento, got flipped off in Sacramento (not my fault!) and finally got pointed south. Most of the drive south was uneventful and much less populated than I imagined not having ever been south of San Jose before. Really, just straight interstate and ag land.
I had been planning a surprise for the kids which was a quick drive through Hollywood to see a few key sites including the La Brea Tar Pits. Hollywood was pretty packed so we just did a drive-by, but we did get out for a quick walk through the tar pits which was nice.
By the time we got gassed up and heading south again, it was already dark and Dohnele had been in San Diego all day long at this point (she finally just took a Lyft to the Air BnB). Anyway, since nobody had eaten and it was already late, we looked up 24-hour tacos and landed at Los Garcia's in Santee where we were staying. The food was amazing although we were probably just really hungry.

Sounds fun...especially seeing the tar pits...lots of brave moves for the "young at heart!" Glad you are all safe.
