Spring Break Day 5: museums and sunsets

Today we tried cramming in the last of the museums that were on our list, but everyone wanted to go to different ones, so we split up.  We drove to Balboa Park and Dohnele and Zephyr went to the zoo while I took the girls to the natural history museum.  We all walked a ton.  Afterwards, we headed down to the USS Midway which Zephyr, myself, and Dohnele wanted to see.  The girls opted to go for a walk along the docks and ocean and to get ice cream and generally enjoy the sunshine.

The Midway met expectations.  We didn't really have time to tour the tower, but we walked through the below deck displays and the on-deck displays and Zephyr sat in every airplane he could get into!

After we all got back together, we had to get Dohnele to the airport to catch her flight back to Portland.  After we dropped her off, we went to Sunset Cliffs to watch her plane take off and to just sit in the sunshine and cook for a bit before dinner while watching the ocean below.  As a bonus, while we waited, a USMC Osprey flew by which was super neat to see.

Once we started to feel the sunburn, we packed up and headed down the hill to Mitch's Seafood which a friend had recommended to us.  We ate out on the dock and watched seagulls and boats in the harbor while feasting on calamari.
